Heuer 2000 renamed Aquaracer 2000 in 2004

The 2000 model was renamed the 2000 Aquaracer in 2004. This model was available as a 38mm quartz-powered model or an automatic version in a 41mm steel case. Both models we certified water resistant to 300m. These new models were a huge success, as such, TAG Heuer rebranded the 2000 range “TAG Heuer Aquaracer” in 2005.

The first generation Aquaracer watches continued until 2009 with the introduction of the 2nd Generation Aquaracer watches. The 3rd generation was launched in 2012 and continued until 2014. And that’s where we are today – with the 4th generation of the Aquaracer incorporating many innovations and improvements. The most recent models include such innovative features such as:

Aquaracer Calibre 5

The most popular version is the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5. All models feature the Calibre 5 swiss made automatic movement. It is available in various case sizes from 40.5mm to 43mm – some with metal bracelets others with rubber/ nylon depending on model style. These watches have a power reserve of 38 hours. They also feature a second hand STOP function (for accurate time setting) plus fast date correction.

Aquaracer Calibre 16 (Chronograph)

The Calibre 16 Aquaracer feature a 3 x dial chronograph and two additional buttons (start/stop & reset). The Calibre 16 chronograph models are available only in the 43mm case. The Calibre 16 automatic movement has a power reserve of 42 hours. The chronograph provides timing down to 1/4 second with a 30 minutes counter and 12 hours counter. Ladies TAG Heuer Aquaracer models

Because TAG have such a wide range of case sizes the range of female Aquaracers is quite extensive. The range of ladies’ TAG Heuer Aquaracers covers everything from practical / no fuss dive watches with a usable dive time bezel to classy dress watches with diamond encrusted bezels.

The choice regarding movement is limited as a majority of the smaller cases are fitted with the cheaper quartz movement. There are a handful of models featuring the automatic Calibre 9 movement. Expect to pay a premium for the luxury of a mechanical automatic (self-winding) movement.

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer is aimed at swimmers, sailors and surfers as well as divers. The range can be broken down in to several categories. First and foremost – all current models are certified to a water resistancy of 300m. This justifies their labelling as true dive watches.
