A short history of this superlative chronometer
Introduced to the world in 1993 – it was immediatley clear the Diver 300m was going to be something special – a world class dive watch. In that same year professional diver – Roland Specker – achieved a world record freshwater free dive. On his way down to the world record of 80m he wore the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300m. The Diver 300m had arrived and established itself as a serious dive watch. They come equipped with either a mechanical automatic calibres or, on older models, quartz (battery) movements. More recent models feature the stunning Calibre 8800 or Calibre 8806 with an impressive 55 hour power reserve. >> More about the Seamaster Diver 300m history and specification here
What to pay for a used Diver 300m
We strongly advise that the buyer checks the prices of a specific model with as many pre-owned watch specialist websites as possible. Time spent now researching average prices will protect you from paying too much in an auction. As a general rule the QUARTZ models sell for less than the mechanical “Co Axial” versions – and rightly so. For example, a 41mm 2541.80 quartz watch in good condition with box & papers might fetch between £1,500 – £1,800 – possibly less. An automatic equivalent version with the Co Axial Calibre 8800 may sell for between £2,500 – £3,000. The Chronograph models with the extra complications are available with prices starting from £4K – going up beyond £6K depending on condition, full set (box and papers) and overall provenance. Limited Edition models such as Olympic and James Bond versions will control an even greater resale price.

All models are certified to a minimum of 600m water resistancy. The watch has been certified by The Swiss Federal Insitute of Metrology to Master Chronometer status, a highly regarded award.
