Casio G-Shock Frogman

The Frogman series all feature one specific function – a DIVE TIMER. It’s a huge range that covers more than a dozen model numbers – each with several versions (colours etc). Original Casio G Shock Frogman from 1993 have the model number DW-6300-n(x) eg the Casio DW-6300-1A. Those models were an all digital affair with no analogue hands.

In their own words …

The first FROGMAN model, DW-6300, was launched in 1993. While maintaining the unique asymmetric shape, the series has continued to evolve with added features such as a more streamlined profile, solar-powered operation, reception of radio wave time-calibration signals, and sensors to measure water depth and more.

An Introduction to the G-Shock Frogman

The Casio G Shock Frogman is a series of rugged, water-resistant watches designed for diving and water sports enthusiasts. The Frogman series was first introduced in 1993, and has since become one of the most popular and recognizable lines of G-Shock watches.

The Casio with a Depth Gauge

One of the key features of the Frogman series is its depth gauge, which measures the depth of the water in which the wearer is diving. This feature is particularly useful for scuba divers, as it allows them to monitor their depth and stay within safe limits. The watch is also equipped with a stopwatch, timer, and alarm functions.

Shock Proof and Water Resistant

The Frogman series is designed to be extremely durable and resistant to shock, water, and other environmental factors. The watch is constructed with a stainless steel case, and features a scratch-resistant mineral glass crystal. The band is made of a flexible, high-strength resin material, which is designed to be comfortable and long-lasting.

Asymmetrical Design

In addition to its practical features, the Frogman is also known for its unique design. The watch has a distinctive, asymmetrical shape that sets it apart from other G-Shock models. The watch is available in a variety of colors and styles, including limited edition versions that are highly sought after by collectors.

A watch for all Water Sports Enthusiasts

Overall, the Casio G Shock Frogman is a high-quality, reliable watch that is perfect for anyone who enjoys diving or water sports. Its durable construction, useful features, and distinctive design have made it a favorite among watch enthusiasts around the world.

It stands out from other G-Shock as it’s the only ISO 6425 compliant dive watch in the G-Shock range. Along with all the usual G-Shock features the Frogman also generally, but not always, features a Moonphase Indicator and Tide Graph.

G-Shock Frogman GWF-D1000

For the purist – there is also the GWF-D1000. With it’s ALL DIGITAL display it has more in common with the original 1993 model. The opinion on this move from digital to analogue is mixed. Yes, it looks good, but is it fit for purpose eg. could it be used to time and record a dive? Thankfully, the customer still has the choice, unfortunately there are more analogue models and just a couple of digital variants.

Excellent Underwater Visibility

The ANALOGUE versions of these watches feature a bold design centred around the large, luminescent hour and minute hands. Essentially, these large hands provide excellent readability when under the water. A key feature of all the best dive watches is their ability to be legible at depth, in the dark. This is achieved in traditional watches like the Breitling Superocean A17366 with highly contrasting hands and dial (black or orange for example). With the Casio G Shock Frogman range the best combination for clarity at depth is the BLACK dial and WHITE hands.

Back-light – providing illumination at depth

One thing the Frogman offers that a traditional dive watch lacks is a bright back-light. Luminous hands are great – and when charged adequately from natural light – they can be read underwater. However – there’s nothing better than a super bright back-light to illuminate your hands. With the new generation of Frogman watches there’s no need to worry about batteries running out. They are completely solar powered, fully charged by any light source, artificial or natural. In short – with a Casio G Shock Frogman on your wrist you are not going to suffer in darkness.

What should you pay for a Casio Frogman

The First analogue FROGMAN.The shock-resistant diver’s watch evolves. A carbon monocoque case with high strength and low absorbency has been employed to deliver the first FROGMAN featuring an analogue display.
